Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Drive from Haridwar/Rishikesh to Joshimath/Govindghat (250 km, 9-10 hours)
Day 2: Drive from Govindghat to Pulna (5 km), then trek to Ghangaria (9 km, 4-5 hours)
Day 3: Ghangaria to Valley of Flowers and back (8 km, 5-6 hours) - Enjoy a full day in the valley
Day 4: Ghangaria to Hemkund Sahib and back (12 km, 6-7 hours)
Day 5: Trek from Ghangaria back to Pulna (9 km), drive to Joshimath
Day 6: Drive back to Haridwar/Rishikesh

Best Time to Visit
The valley opens from June to October. Peak blooming season is from mid-July to mid-August. July and August see maximum varieties of flowers. September offers fewer flowers but clearer skies and better visibility.
Entry Permits
Entry permits are required for Valley of Flowers National Park. Available at the entrance gate (near Ghangaria). Carry ID proof. Only 200-300 visitors allowed per day. The park is open from 7 AM to 2 PM (no entry after 2 PM).
How to Reach Starting Point
By Air: Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun (286 km from Govindghat)
By Train: Rishikesh or Haridwar (250-270 km)
By Road: Regular buses and shared taxis from Rishikesh and Haridwar to Govindghat (via Joshimath)
Important Tips
- Start your Valley of Flowers visit early morning (by 7 AM)
- Stay on marked trails - don't trample flowers
- Don't pluck flowers - it's illegal in a national park
- Carry all trash back with you
- Acclimatize properly at Ghangaria (altitude 10,000 ft)
- Check weather forecast before the trek
- Book accommodation at Ghangaria in advance (peak season)

Combine with Hemkund Sahib
Most trekkers combine Valley of Flowers with Hemkund Sahib, a sacred Sikh shrine located at 15,000 ft. It adds one more day to the itinerary and is a steep 6 km trek from Ghangaria.
